Concordia Astro Radio Project (CARP)

Project Lead: Lukas Vieira

The Concordia Astro Radio Project (CARP) is a team of early-year undergraduate students passionate about astrophysics, working to establish a radio observation facility at the university. Starting with the Radio JOVE amateur radio telescope kit—capable of detecting solar activity and emissions from Jupiter’s moon—members gained experience assembling radio receiver circuitry and using lab equipment to test its performance.

Recently, our receiver was successfully connected to an antenna for the first time, capturing ground-based transmissions and signals likely originating from the upper atmosphere or the Sun. Moving forward, we are conducting further tests with our 80 cm loop antenna and welcoming members eager to contribute to the construction of our dual dipole antenna.
